‘heavy Odor Of Sewage’ In Dining Room; 50 Dead Roaches On Kitchen Floor: 6 South Florida Restaurants Shut

Card image cap

More than 60 flies landing on bread and in other areas of a bakery. Water backing up from a drain under a pizza oven emitting a “heavy odor of sewage.” And about 150 rodent droppings found during a return visit to one restaurant.

There were just some of the violations that temporarily closed six South Florida restaurants last week — one in Broward and five in Palm Beach counties.

The Sun Sentinel typically highlights restaurant inspections conducted by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation in Broward and Palm Beach counties. We cull through inspections that happen weekly and spotlight places ordered shut for “high-priority violations,” such as improper food temperatures or dead cockroaches.
