Taking to Facebook last month, the company announced their closure.
The post read: “It’s with a heavy heart that after 9 fabulous years we are having to close the store.
“We have put absolutely everything into keeping the shop open but unfortunately it hasn’t been enough and while we’ve tried fighting the current economy and the effects on retail, we have to unfortunately admit defeat…
“We’d like to thank you, our amazing customers for your support giving us 9 wonderful years of business going through Covid, moving store and too many milestones to count. Without you none of which would have been possible!”
All pending orders are also being fulfilled by the store.
The shop initially said it would close on January 31st but with floods of customers rushing to bag their last products in a “farewell clearance,” the closure date was extended.
Home Decor Hull said: “Due to the amazing response from you all & how busy the shop has been over the last few weeks we are able to open just a little while longer.”
The store announced that the closure date is now set for February 28.
Until then, the store will be open every day, even on weekends with bargain prices as they tell shoppers that everything has to go.
As shoppers mourn another high street loss, the decor shop specialising in designer and high-end brands has continued to thank customers for their continued support.
The business owner Mike Robinson told HullLive: “It’s a shame we have to close but at least people that have shopped with us over the years are getting quality wallpaper at ridiculously cheap prices.”
“The turnout of customers has been amazing and far more than we ever expected,” he added.
Shoppers have taken to Facebook to share their sadness about the closure.
One wrote: “This is so sad. Always find what I want here and amazing prices for quality paper.”
“Such a shame – another small business gone,” another said.
“Will never get that personal touch in larger stores but unfortunately this is the way things are going now.
“Good luck with whatever you all do in the future.”
“So sad we love comin to you for our lovely papers and you always offer fantastic support helping us choose and measuring up etc thank you. You will be soooo missed!!” a third added.
Others mourned the loss of yet another local store as the high street continues to take a hit.
