Huawei’s Ai-centric 5g-advanced Solutions On Show At Mwc 2025

- Huawei showcases 5G-Advanced solutions at MWC 2025.
- Helps carriers evolve from connectivity providers to digital service providers.
- New monetisation models offer growth, although costs and regulatory hurdles remain.
New Huawei AI-centric 5G-Advanced (5G-A) solutions have been presented at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2025, where the company presented several innovations, and stated the convergence of AI and 5G technologies could reshape the telecom landscape.
Between March 3 and 6, the Chinese tech giant presented products and services designed to help carriers transition from being traditional connectivity providers to digital service providers. Under the theme “Accelerating the Intelligent World,” Huawei’s telecoms sector offerings cover network infrastructure, data storage, core networks, and business models designed to take advantage of what executives described as the industry’s “transformative moment.”
AI-centric network
At the Huawei product & solution launch at MWC Barcelona 2025, Yang Chaobin, Huawei’s Director of the Board and CEO of the ICT Business Group, launches the company’s AI-Centric Network solution.
Yang Chaobin, Huawei’s Director of the Board and CEO of the ICT Business Group, introduced what he described as the company’s AI-centric network solution, saying that “high-quality, low-cost, and open-source AI models will give rise to a wide range of innovation in applications.” The AI-centric network solution covers four areas: all-domain connectivity, application-oriented operation and maintenance (O&M), enhanced AI-to-X services (AI-to-business, consumer, and home), and fresh business models.
5G-advanced solutions: Evolutionary path for mobile networks
Cao Ming, Vice President of Huawei and President of Huawei Wireless Solution, announced 5G-A solutions focused on three changes in the mobile industry. “Mobile AI is booming, bringing three major transformations to mobile networks in terms of user experience, O&M, and business models,” Cao stated. “Huawei launched […] intent-driven AI-centric 5.5G solutions to help operators seize the emerging opportunities by enabling diverse AI application experiences, efficient O&M with high-level network autonomy, and multi-factor business monetisation.” The solutions are GigaGear for resource collaboration, GreenPulse for intent-driven automation, and GainLeap for experience and value monetisation.
AI Core Network: agent connectivity
George Gao, President of Huawei Cloud Core Network Product Line, announced what Huawei claims is the industry’s first “AI Core Network” which will roll out in two phases: the 5G-A Intelligent Core and the Agentic Core.
“The AI core network will become an important [element of] telecom infrastructure in the mobile AI era,” Gao said. “Huawei will work with telecom operators and industry partners to seize the opportunities of digital and intelligent development, go beyond introducing AI to the core network to using AI and the core network for innovative services, and accelerate the transition to an intelligent world.” The proposed new infrastructure introduces three AI agents: calling agents that change users phone dial pads into intent-driven task managers, personalised experience agents that can dynamically allocate network resources, and digital customer care agents that resolve complaints and issues through natural language interaction.
AI-ready data storage
Dr. Peter Zhou, President of Huawei Data Storage Product Line, presented the company’s AI-ready data storage solutions designed to help carriers’ data management. “Huawei data storage provides [an] AI-ready data lake solution, diverse data storage services, and the FlashEver business model,” Dr. Zhou said. The storage solutions include OceanStor Dorado converged all-flash storage, OceanStor A Series high-performance AI storage, and OceanProtect all-flash backup storage.
Beyond traffic-based monetisation
Li Peng, Huawei’s Corporate Senior Vice President and President of ICT Sales and service, predicted that the symbiosis between 5G-A and AI technologies would stimulate double-digit growth in data use and average revenue per user. “New network capabilities will give rise to new business models,” Li stated. “Carriers can go beyond monetising traffic and start monetising experience itself.” Li said that early-adopter carriers have launched 5G-A packages in over 200 cities worldwide, with some exploring “experience monetisation models” based on factors like speed, latency, and the concept of VIP benefits. “The opportunities are huge,” Li said.
Challenges amid vision
While Huawei’s AI-centric 5G-A solutions offer the company’s vision for the future of telecommunications, questions remain about implementation timelines and adoption barriers. The transition from current network infrastructure to the systems Huawei proposes will likely require significant investment from carriers already facing capital constraints and competitive pressure. Industry analysts note regulatory challenges around AI integration with important infrastructure, particularly in the areas of data privacy and network security, factors which may slow deployment in some markets.
As telecom providers assess their roadmaps, Huawei’s solutions will face competition from rivals investing in the same space. As the industry examines proposals and options for new infrastructure and their potential, the test will be whether any solution can deliver measurable ROI for operators given the integration challenges and the diversity of regional cultural and legislative requirements.
