Man Kills Wife, Tries To Harm Himself With Knife

PETALING JAYA: A 63-year-old woman was killed by her husband of 36 years at their home in Bandar Sungai Long, Kajang, yesterday.
Kajang police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said the 65-year-old man had tried to harm himself with a knife after murdering his wife, before their son called the cops at 5.32pm.
When police arrived, the woman was found covered in blood in her bedroom and was confirmed dead, Harian Metro reported.
Police arrested the man and seized several items, including a knife. An autopsy found that the victim had died from suffocation.
“The couple had been married for 36 years and had a son and a daughter.
“The suspect is believed to have been facing emotional stress as his 25-year-old business is facing financial issues, while the victim suffered from an illness,” Naazron said.
The suspect, who has been remanded until Feb 27, is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, punishable by the death penalty, or 30 to 40 years’ imprisonment and a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane, upon conviction.
