Tempur-Pedic has three mattress lines: the Cloud, Adapt, and Breeze. All feature the brand's proprietary body-contouring Tempur-Material.

Tempur-Pedic;Business Insider

Over the past six years of testing more than 100 mattresses for our best mattress guide, I've found Tempur-Pedic to be a consistently innovative brand. Their proprietary foam technology, known as Tempur-Material, responds and adapts to your body's shape, weight, and temperature to deliver a distinct pressure-relieving feel — and sets them apart in the industry. Still, it uniquely conforms to your body's contours and excels at pressure point relief. Quite simply, no other brand has been able to replicate this unique foam.

Below, we'll share our experiences testing Tempur-Pedic's mattresses and other products. We'll detail the various collections and benefits of each to help guide you to the best Tempur-Pedic mattress for your needs and budget. The Tempur-Pedic Cloud is my favorite. It offers superior temperature regulation, excellent motion isolation, and impressive comfort no matter your sleep position. It's also the brand's most affordable option. The Adapt collection is popular because it's available in multiple firmness options, offers better edge support, and comes with an in-home setup.

The Tempur-Material foam

The Tempur-Material foam used in all Tempur-Pedic mattresses is CertiPUR-US certified. NASA created this foam in the 1970s to deliver superior comfort on flights, and Tempur-Pedic developed it for sleeping. The material is unique because it reacts to your body's temperature, shape, and weight to relieve pressure.

Tempur-Pedic's policies

All mattresses come with free shipping and a 90-night trial. If you sleep on the mattress for at least 30 nights and don't like it during the trial period, Tempur-Pedic will refund you what you paid minus a $175 return shipping fee. Tempur-Pedic mattresses are backed by a 10-year warranty, and you can try them out in stores nationwide.

Tempur-Cloud Collection

The Cloud is Tempur-Pedic's most affordable mattress and its first and only mattress-in-a-box offering. As such, it's the only one that doesn't come with free white-glove delivery. It's also my pick for the best foam mattress because of its exceptional comfort and the adaptable memory foam construction found in all Tempur-Pedic beds. Below the layers of body-contouring proprietary foam is a supportive foam base layer. The moisture-wicking cover enhances breathability to effectively regulate your temperature.

The Tempur-Cloud is Tempur-Pedic's most affordable mattress and my favorite.

James Brains/Business Insider

The Cloud features outstanding pressure relief across all sleep positions. We made it a pick in our guide to the best mattresses for back sleepers because its firmer-than-average feel will appeal to those who sleep on their back. The motion isolation is excellent — movement on one side barely transfers to the other. However, as I've found with most Tempur-Pedic mattresses, the edge support is lacking. Lying or sitting near the edge feels unstable.

Most importantly, I slept incredibly well on the Cloud. Each night, I was asleep within minutes of lying down.

Though we haven't tested it, the Cloud is also available as a hybrid with premium spring coils. Couples may want to choose the hybrid because spring coils often improve a mattress's edge support.

Tempur-Adapt Collection

The Tempur-Adapt mattress line has three models: Adapt (11 inches thick), ProAdapt (12 inches), and LuxeAdapt (13 inches). Each features progressively more advanced support and cooling technology. The 2024 refresh added a cooling cover across all models and ventilated foam in the ProAdapt and LuxeAdapt editions. The LuxeAdapt also now sports zoned support for enhanced ergonomics. Models vary in firmness levels, with options ranging from soft to firm, including medium hybrid versions with coil systems.

Business Insider Reviews' Jamie Davis Smith tested the ProAdapt in medium hybrid and found its firmness would appeal to side, stomach, and back sleepers, making it suitable for couples with different sleep preferences. It supplied excellent pressure relief while maintaining spinal alignment, confirmed with an app that measures spinal alignment. Sleep tracking data showed her sleep quality scores improved from mid-70s to high-90s out of 100 while testing the bed.

The Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt mattress offers excellent support and cooling.

Jamie Davis Smith/Business Insider

The ProAdapt excels in temperature regulation, with surface temperatures rising only 12 degrees during sleep — lower than average. The edge support is superior, sinking just 2.5 inches compared to the typical 3.5 inches. Motion isolation tests using a vibrometer showed readings of 2.65-2.75, significantly better than the 7.1 average, making it perfect for couples.

Edge support, motion isolation, and other characteristics could vary based on your chosen Adapt mattress. For example, one tester found the LuxeAdapt in soft lacked sufficient edge support.

A two-week break-in period is typical for every new mattress, though our tester found it comfortable immediately. The cooling cover and ventilated foam layers proved effective, even during heat waves and high humidity.

Tempur-Breeze Collection

The Breeze collection is designed to keep you cool. Tempur-Pedic claims it's up to 10 degrees cooler than the Adapt. This cooling comes from the brand's "Pure Cool" material, which pulls heat away from your body, and "Ventilated Advanced Relief" material, which boosts airflow.

I tested the Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze, the most economical option in its most advanced mattress collection. Although it's still expensive at over $4,000, it provides excellent pressure relief and spinal alignment across all sleep positions, in addition to enhanced cooling features, of which the ProBreeze delivered on its promise to keep me cool.

I slept on the medium hybrid version, which combines premium foam with pocket springs for unparalleled support and comfort. It runs slightly firmer than the Cloud model, making it perfect for stomach and back sleepers.

Tempur-Pedic's Breeze mattress line is ideal for hot sleepers, thanks to the brand's proprietary "Pure Cool" material.

Tempur-Pedic

The motion isolation is exceptional, though the edge support is limited. After a year on the ProBreeze, I found it excelled at managing chronic back pain through targeted support at pressure points, earning it a spot in our best mattresses for back pain guide.

Tempur-Pedic also offers the pricier LuxeBreeze line, which features "Pure Cool Plus" material, which they say is their "most advanced cooling technology." While the ProBreeze line is only available in medium-firm hybrid or all-foam, the LuxeBreeze beds are offered in soft, firm, and medium hybrid options.

Lastly, Tempur-Pedic's most innovative bed is the ActiveBreeze Smart Bed, which uses heated or cooled air to achieve your custom comfort level. Unfortunately, it's pricey at about $10,000 for a queen.

Other Tempur-Pedic products we love

In addition to mattresses, Tempur-Pedic's selection of pillows and mattress toppers are also worth consideration.

Suzy Hernandez/Business Insider; Tempur-Pedic

Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt Topper: One of the best mattress toppers, the three-inch Tempur-Adapt mattress topper offers the brand's signature foam comfort without the full mattress cost. The superior pressure relief is ideal for back pain sufferers. The updated model includes straps to minimize shifting, though some movement may still occur. It features a washable cover and maintains good temperature regulation. While the setup is straightforward and the 10-year warranty impressive, the motion isolation is average, and the topper isn't returnable. Though we haven't tested it, the Adapt Topper is available with added cooling technology for an additional charge.

Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Ergo Smart Base: This is not your average adjustable bed frame. The Tempur-Pedic Ergo Smart Base integrates with the Sleeptracker app (available for iOS and Android) to monitor breathing, heart rate, and sleep quality and incorporates thoughtful features like a gentle wake-up feature and automatically adjusts to reduce snoring, making it one of the best adjustable bed frames. The base provides preset positions like "zero gravity" for comfortable streaming and reading. The massage function is subtle, moving the frame smoothly and quietly. Other features include adjustable legs, a backlit remote, USB charging ports, under-bed lighting, and a 25-year warranty with free setup. Read our full Tempur-Ergo Smart Base review.

Tempur-Pedic Ease Power Base: This adjustable bed frame enhances comfort by allowing foot and head elevation, perfect for watching TV, reading, and pregnancy. While this basic model lacks stylistic elements, like headboard compatibility, it provides essential functions through a wireless remote. Our tester found it was a great cost-effective option based on the white-glove delivery, 25-year warranty, and her overall experience, though she noticed some motion transfer. Read our full Tempur-Pedic Ease review.

Tempur-Pedic Body Pillow: A pick in our best body pillow guide, this NASA-inspired body pillow features adaptive micro-cushions that conform to your body. It offers firm, lasting support making it perfect for side sleeping, pain relief, and pregnancy. The pillow keeps its shape while supplying versatile positioning options for hips, legs, and back support. Its weight prevents unwanted movement during sleep, though it may be too firm and dense for those who like to reposition frequently.

Tempur-Pedic Cloud Dual Cooling Pillow: A best cooling pillow pick, the Tempur-Cloud Dual Cooling Pillow features a quilted cover and cooling gel layers that effectively regulate temperature. The medium-firm feel supports back and side sleepers, maintaining a cushy feel while promoting spinal alignment. The pillow's weight and thickness may not suit everyone, though it retains its shape and is durable. It doesn't come with a trial period but is backed by a five-year warranty.

Tempur-Pedic FAQs

How does Tempur-Pedic compare to similar mattress brands?

Tempur-Pedic stands out among luxury mattress brands with its signature body-contouring Tempur-Material. While more expensive than competitors like Casper, Nectar, and Leesa, Tempur-Pedic provides superior durability and motion isolation. Plus, the mattresses tend to sleep cooler.

Tempur-Pedic offers a 90-night trial and 10-year warranty, which is less generous than many bed-in-a-box companies, with many now providing 365-night trials and lifetime warranties. Still, I haven't found a mattress brand that does a better job of providing pressure relief and body-cradling comfort.

What makes a Tempur-Pedic mattress worth it?

Tempur-Pedic's proprietary foam supplies exceptional body contouring and pressure relief, significantly improving sleep quality for those with pain and joint issues. The beds are known for their durability, so you can count on them lasting you for many years to come. They're perfect for couples who share a bed because of their outstanding motion isolation. So, while they may be expensive upfront, the combination of proven durability, superior materials, and potential sleep improvements justify the investment.

How long does a Tempur-Pedic last?

A good indicator of how long a mattress lasts is its warranty. Tempur-Pedic offers a 10-year warranty. 10 years is about how long you can expect most mattresses to last. While Tempur-Pedic's high-density memory foam tends to maintain its support and shape longer than many standard mattresses, you can get yours fixed or replaced if it starts to degrade before 10 years. Check out the warranty for more details.
