KOTA KINABALU (March 9): Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) is expanding across China with the establishment of a liaison office in Foshan.
Managed by esteemed local entrepreneurs, this milestone signifies the Chamber’s growing presence in China. The new office will provide a more effective and extensive platform for collaboration between entrepreneurs and investors from Sabah and various regions of China.
SCCC president Datuk Frankie Liew made this announcement following a visit to Shenzhen and other regions in China with a 31-member delegation comprising SCCC board members and young entrepreneurs.
The SCCC delegation also visited the Foshan liaison office, where they were warmly received by its executives, He Yifeng and Yang Bin.
Liew revealed that He Yifeng is the General Manager of Foshan Fengjun Trading Co., Ltd. and Fengjun International Trading (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. He also serves as Vice President of the China Magnesite Industry Association and Director of its Shenzhen office. Meanwhile, Yang Bin is the Chairman of Foshan Meichenhui Cultural & Art Products Co., Ltd.
“The two key leaders of the Foshan liaison office are strong and sincere partners who share the same vision as SCCC. They are highly enthusiastic and ambitious about promoting economic and trade cooperation between Sabah and various provinces and cities in China. With their support, we hope to maximize and optimize the economic potential and benefits between the two regions,” said Liew.
“This visit allowed SCCC members and young entrepreneurs to develop deeper connections with the liaison office team, strengthening internal ties within the Chamber while fostering exchanges and cooperation among young entrepreneurs.”
Liew emphasized that this initiative has established a new bridge for business interactions between Sabah and Foshan, laying a solid foundation for future collaborations in economic, trade, and cultural sectors.
On the day of the visit, the Foshan liaison office organized a networking session where several Foshan entrepreneurs and representatives engaged in in-depth discussions with the SCCC delegation.
During the session, the liaison office team introduced Foshan’s economic landscape, industrial strengths, and investment environment. They highlighted Foshan’s competitive advantages in manufacturing, ceramics, home appliances, and the government’s policies designed to attract foreign investment.
Young entrepreneurs actively participated, raising questions on topics such as market access, regulations and business cooperation models.
The delegation later visited several representative enterprises in Foshan, gaining insights into local business operations, technological innovation capabilities, and corporate culture development.
Liew remarked that through on-site visits, the young entrepreneurs gained a more direct understanding of Foshan’s industrial growth. Many expressed their enthusiasm about bringing back their learnings to Sabah and exploring further collaboration opportunities.
He stressed that this business delegation was one of SCCC’s key initiatives to support the growth and development of young entrepreneurs. Moving forward, SCCC will continue to organize similar programs, offering more learning and exchange platforms to help young entrepreneurs expand their businesses in the international market and achieve greater success.
This exchange not only deepened Sabah’s young entrepreneurs’ understanding of Foshan but also paved the way for broader future cooperation between businesses from both regions. Under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, Sabah and China’s economic and trade relations are expected to be further strengthened, leading to mutual benefits and win-win outcomes.
Among the Foshan business representatives attending the event was Su Xing, an international gold trading expert. He is also the Chairman of the International Chaozhou Business Club’s Gold Trading Development Center, Chairman of the Davos International Financial Club, President of the (Hong Kong) World Financial Technology Research Institute, President of the Dubai Financial Derivatives Research Institute, and Secretary-General of the Boao World Financial Live Trading Technology Summit Forum.
