Two employees at separate Broward County schools were arrested on Friday, accused of sex-related offenses with minors, according to police and jail records.

Dequan Andre Sierra, 29, was arrested Friday by deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office’s Weston District on one count of an authority figure soliciting or engaging in sexual conduct and one count of unlawful sexual activity with a person 16 or 17 years old, jail records show.

Broward County Public Schools’ athletic staff directory for 2025 shows that Sierra is the boys’ basketball coach at Nova High School in Davie. The school’s website as of Friday evening did not have Sierra listed as the coach.

“BCPS is deeply disturbed by the allegations and remains committed to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students,” John J. Sullivan, school district chief communications officer, said in a statement to the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “The employee in question will be reassigned away from the school and students pending the outcome of the investigation and will face termination if the allegations are substantiated.”

Sheriff’s Office spokespersons did not immediately return an email seeking further information after business hours Friday.

Justice Livan Joseph, 27, a security monitor at West Broward High in Pembroke Pines, was arrested Friday on the school’s campus, Pembroke Pines Police and Miami Police said.

Joseph was arrested by Miami Police detectives on a warrant for sexual battery of a minor that occurred in Miami, where he lives. The alleged victim contacted Miami Police last month about an incident last August when Joseph took him to a condo to help him and someone else “with some photography for a business,” the police department said in an email Friday evening.

The victim, then 17, said he was given alcohol, then touched and forced to perform sexual acts on both men, according to Miami Police.

“The victim alleges that he was then taken home and told that he would be killed if he told anyone,” the statement said.

He was not a student at West Broward High, Pembroke Pines Police said.

Sullivan said the school employee will be reassigned away from students as the investigation is ongoing.

Pembroke Pines Police urged parents to “be aware of who their children are communicating with through social media and on their cell phones” and contact the department if they “believe that your child had inappropriate contact” with Joseph. He has worked at the school for a year.
