Known as Manhattan Short, the festival is enjoyed worldwide. “Film lovers worldwide will unite in over 500 locations between September 26 – October 6 for one reason…to view and vote on the ten Finalists Films in the 27th Annual MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival,” according to the official film site.
Each participating venue will provide ballots for the public to vote on both the Best Film and Best Actor award. Each short film is automatically Oscar-qualified automatically due to the preliminary process of the films being selected for the MANHATTAN SHORT.
The MANHATTAN SHORT Final Ten are as follows:
- The Talent (UK),
- I’m Not a Robot (The Netherlands)
- Mother (Ukraine)
- Dovecote (Italy)
- Pathological (USA), Alarms (France), Favourites (Australia)
- The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent (Croatia)
- Room Taken (Ireland)
- Jane Austen’s Period Drama (USA)
“We’re excited to partner with Studio C to bring the Manhattan Short Film Festival back to Celebration Cinema,” said Andrea Graham, family programming coordinator. “We have been hosting this film festival for nearly a decade, and the response is always amazing. Our community enjoys getting the opportunity to see these Oscar-qualified short films.”
For those who wish to participate, a short discussion about the films will be available as well. While the event is free to attend, registration is required at crdl.org/event or give the library a call at 989-773-3242.
