Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have been good friends for a long time. The duo has expressed their affection for each other on many occasions. Apart from being good pals, Swift and Gomez have constantly voiced support for one another. Their bond goes way back to 2008 when they were newcomers in the music scene.

Industry pals Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez’s first meeting dates back to 2008. Their interaction happened because of the Jonas Brothers, Nick and Joe Jonas. While Gomez was dating Nick at that time, Swift was romantically involved with his brother Joe.

Just a year after they first met each other, Gomez and Swift had already become the closest friends. Gomez sat down for a chat with Seventeen in 2009, where she disclosed that Swift was the one she turned to for love advice. She stated that the “Lover” singer could heal any of her problems.

In 2011, Swift and Gomez didn’t shy away from showcasing their bond to the world. They made entries into events such as the People’s Choice Awards, American Music Awards, and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party together. The same year, fans also witnessed the grand collaboration between the two, when Gomez made a guest appearance on Swift’s Speak Now tour.

Over time, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez regularly appeared together at awards shows and fashion events like the 2014 Met Gala. In May 2014, Swift spoke to E! News about her friendship with the “Calm Down” singer and termed it as the “longest one” they ever had. The next year brought another team-up for the fans as Gomez starred in the music video of Swift’s song “Bad Blood.”

Furthermore, Gomez’s support toward her friend didn’t halt here, and she performed during the latter’s 1989 and Reputation tours. In one of her Instagram Lives, the “Good for You” hitmaker even referred to Swift as her “big sister.”

The duo appeared for an interview with WSJ Magazine in 2020 and looked back at their friendship. Commenting on her bond with Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift said, “I knew from when I met her I would always have her back.” On the other hand, Gomez stated, “She is one of my best friends in the world.”

Additionally, while speaking to Rolling Stone in 2022, Gomez also addressed Swift as “her only friend in the industry.” The Only Murders in the Building actress announced her engagement with Benny Blanco in December 2024. To this, Swift even showcased her excitement by saying that she would be the flower girl. The two pop icons’ most recent outing came before the 2025 Super Bowl at Negroni Caffe Bar, as per Page Six.
