For those in Bloomington with an itch for some recreational competition, your moment in the sun has arrived – or, depending on your sport of choice, your moment under the gymnasium fluorescents. Bloomington Parks and Recreation is rolling out the red carpet for athletic thrill-seekers, announcing the start of registration for their fall adult sports leagues. So, lace up those sneakers, dust off those kneepads, it's game on.

Here's the scoop: still swinging for the fences? Your team might want to hop on the adult softball league bandwagon before August 9, when registration closes its doors. According to a statement obtained by BloomingtonMN.gov, once you make the team official, play begins on August 19. Make sure you've got your game plan and roster ready – no time for seventh-inning stretches in the sign-up phase.

Not a fan of diamond dust? Perhaps the squeak of sneakers and the resounding thumps of a volleyball is more your jam. Team registration for the indoor volleyball league opens its doors on August 7 and will roll straight through to September 7. As per the source, first serves fly on September 16, letting you battle it out for indoor superiority just as the autumn chill creeps in.

And for those who think soccer and baseball have a brilliant child, kickball is your arena. Form your team and join the roster before August 12 to secure a spot in the league that begins play on August 22. For sign-ups or any pressing inquiries, Anthony DiBella at adibella@BloomingtonMN.gov is the keeper of the answers or call in the cavalry at 952-563-8676. More details can be found at BloomingtonMN.gov/adultsports.

All said it seems there's a little something for everyone this upcoming season. Remember, friends – it's not just about the trophy or the inevitable post-game pizza party. It's about the camaraderie, the sweat, and the undeniable joy of playing the game. Or so they say. Regardless, it's best to strike while the iron’s hot, or risk being left out in Minnesota’s soon-to-be crisp, cool air.
