KCHD to Recognize Senior Fall Prevention Awareness Day
The Knox County Health Department and the Knoxville-Knox County Senior Safety Task Force will host the annual Fall Prevention Awareness Day event at the John T. O’Connor Senior Center on Friday, September 20 from 9 a.m. – noon.
“Falls continue to be a major health risk for older adults, often causing injuries and reducing their ability to live independently,” said KCHD Public Health Educator Rachel Frazier. “This event will help people assess their fall risk and make changes so they can stay on their feet!”
Attendees will:
- Learn how to make their home safer
- Get their vision checked
- Speak with a pharmacist about medications
- Learn which exercises help prevent falls
- Get a balance screening
