Horrible reviews. Not as bad as the 1* rating for the P4010ACS though.

There are four of the Kidde 900-CUAR-V in this house.

All purchased in summer of 2023 by the original owners in preparation of the sale of the house to my mom.

Three (3) of the Kiddes are in stepladder accessible locations. One is on the foyer ceiling 12 feet up.

The one on the foyer ceiling would beep 4x every minute for 10 minutes this summer usually once a day and fortunately not at night.

That started in late June but strangely stopped in late August. The beeps are an undocumented fault.

Thank you very much for the heads up about the 30CUAR-V.

I am going to give Kidde a call on Monday.

Did you try pushing the button to reset it? 3 beeps/minute could be a few different things. Check that manual.

Looks like the 900-CUAR-V may not be able to interconnect with the 30CUAR-V per the manual above. Ask them. If not, maybe they'll send you 4 new ones. The last rep I spoke to said that Kidde has had a lot of problems with the P4010s, but the new 30CUAs have been okay.

When you wire in the new detector, a tip from my electrician (which I didn't do) is to cut off the ends of the wires that have the tin plating and then strip half an inch of the insulation off each wire. Makes it easier to wrap around the copper house wires. I like to pre-twist before putting on the wire nut, but you don't have to. Make sure the wire nut is the right size. They should be if an electrician installed the detectors you have now, but might not be if the owners did it themselves. I believe those wiring harness wires that come with the detector are 18 gauge. I used the 16 hole (I think) on the wire strippers to play it safe because they're a little fragile. Practice a few times on the old smoke detector wires. You should be okay. These things have been a real PITA for us. I hope the new ones hold up, but if they don't Kidde is just going to have keep replacing them. Their loss.
