Get back in the swing of things at Montgomery Parks. There’s the return of the Fall Twilight Concert Series, Acoustics and Ales and Sunday Serenade, tree climbing and other events for those 55+, Latino Conservation Week and more this September at Parks.

Fall Twilight Concert Series | September 4, 11, 18, and 25 | 6–7:30 p.m.

Brookside Gardens, 1800 Glenallan Avenue, Wheaton

Join us Wednesday evenings in September for a series of free musical performances. Bring friends and family, chairs, blankets, and picnics (*alcohol not permitted). Food trucks will be onsite selling food and drinks. Go to the event page for food truck details. All ages. Free.

Explore the exciting world of sports and recreation at the Wheaton Ice Arena, Wheaton Sports Pavilion, and Wheaton Indoor Tennis. This event offers something for everyone, from experienced athletes to beginners. Ages three and older. Registration required. $10 per person.

Canopy Connection | September 11 | 9 a.m. –12 p.m.
Washington Square Neighborhood Park, 17800 Amity Drive, Gaithersburg

Embark on a tree climbing adventure—a unique opportunity to learn the basics of ropes, how to tie basic knots, proper techniques to ascend ropes, and safety equipment used for tree climbing. Ages 55 and older. Registration required. $50 per person.

Acoustics and Ales | September 13 | 5–7:30 p.m.

North Four Corners Local Park, 315 University Boulevard, Silver Spring

Cool down with a cold beverage while enjoying a performance by local artist, Shane Gamble Duo. Food, locally made craft beers, and non-alcoholic drink options, will be available for purchase from Third Hill Brewing Co., Silver Branch Brewing Co., Two Smooth Dudes, Money Muscle BBQ, and Sno Blast DMV. All ages. Free.

History Hour Women of the Underground Railroad: African American Experiences of Maryland | September 19 | 6 –7 p.m.
Josiah Henson Museum and Park, 11410 Old Georgetown Road, North Bethesda

Learn about the history and participation of Maryland women, such as Harriett Tubman, in the Underground Railroad, presented by Shirl Spicer, Montgomery Parks cultural resources museum manager. Arrive early and take a self-guided tour of the Josiah Henson Museum. Refreshments provided. Ages 13 and older. Purchase tickets. $5 per person.

Introduction to Robotics and Coding | September 21 and 28 | 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
Indian Spring Terrace Local Park, 9717 Lawndale Drive, Silver Spring

Pilgrim Hills Local Park, East Randolph Road, Colesville

Fun with robots! Students will use communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity to program a robot. At the end of the course, they will receive their own personal robot to take home and continue the fun. Ages 11–13. Registration required. $50 per person.

Children’s Day | September 21 | 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

Explore the science and art of gardening through child-driven art projects and engaging science activities. Some activity stations available in Spanish and English. Bring a picnic, friends, and family for a special day. All ages. Registration required. Free.

Parks Ale Trail | September 21 |11 a.m.–3 p.m.

Rock Creek Regional Park, Lake Needwood Trails, 15700 Needwood Lake Circle, Rockville

Catch the Oktoberfest spirit with live music, local craft beer, food, and hiking, as well as live entertainment and tree climbing for the kids. All ages. Free.

Foodie Fridays: Hear the Past | September 27 | 6:30 –8:30 p.m.
Josiah Henson Museum and Park, 11410 Old Georgetown Road, North Bethesda

Learn how Montgomery County’s history has shaped the food system we see today with historian and author Tony Cohen. Discussion will focus on historical foodways, with a focus on the Museum Garden at Button Farm Living History Center and the heirloom varieties grown there. The registration fee includes light refreshments, one alcoholic beverage (21 and older), and a ticket to Josiah Henson Museum ($5 value, redeemable during regular museum hours). Ages 18 and older.Purchase tickets. $15 per person.

Sunday Serenade | September 29 | 10–11:30 a.m.
Cabin John Regional Park, 7400 Tuckerman Lane, Bethesda

End the weekend and start your week off right by relaxing on the lawn and listening to live music from Redmond, Langosch, Cooley. Local bakery, Ella’s Bake Shop, will be onsite selling breakfast foods. Guests are encouraged to bring their own snacks, blankets, and lawn chairs and make it a morning picnic at the park. All ages. Free.

Go, Grow & Get Active: Active Aging Week Signature Event | September 30 | 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
North Potomac Community Recreation Center, 13850 Travilah Road, Rockville

Activities include Zumba, laugh circles, pickleball demos, mahjong basics, rock climbing and more. Ages 50 and older.Registration required. Free.
