Marilyn Manson’s film appearances paint a picture of a man drawn to darkness and evil.

Almost all his roles play idiosyncratic, odd balls or twisted versions of himself. Whether he’s a hitman, a sleazy bartender, a cross-dressing club personality, or a faceless monster whispering in the dark, his on-screen presence consistently leans into the unsettling and the macabre.

Do these roles reflect something deeper—an extension of who he truly is? Or is he just playing a role?

Lost Highway (1997)

Marilyn Manson made his film debut with a brief cameo in David Lynch’s neo-noir Lost Highway. He appears with bandmate Twiggy Ramirez as an adult film actor in a surreal snuff film scene viewed by the characters, credited simply as “Porn Actor” in the cast.

Jawbreaker (1999)

Manson appears as himself in Michael Moore’s documentary, discussing the Columbine tragedy and countering media claims that his music influenced the shooters. His calm, insightful response contrasts with his shock-rock persona.

In this short BMW film, Manson makes a comic cameo as himself, annoyed by loud noises while holding a Bible. His deadpan delivery adds humor to the action-packed short.

Party Monster (2003)

Manson plays Christina Superstar, a cross-dressing club personality, in this film about the NYC Club Kids. His flamboyant role fits the movie’s extravagant and drug-fueled atmosphere.

The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things (2004)

Manson plays Jackson, the degenerate boyfriend of a neglectful mother. His brief but disturbing role involves being tricked into an inappropriate encounter, adding to the film’s dark themes.

Rise: Blood Hunter (2007)

Manson has a small role as a bartender who gives Lucy Liu’s character information about vampires. His scene is short but adds a touch of comic relief.

Wrong Cops (2013)

Manson plays David Delores Frank, a moody teenager, despite being a middle-aged rock star. His deadpan performance adds to the absurdist humor of the film.

Born Villain (2011, short film)

Directed by Shia LaBeouf, this surreal short film features Manson reciting lines from Macbeth amid nightmarish visuals. It’s an avant-garde piece tied to his 2012 album and might not be considered a movie, but given the connection to Shia LaBeouf, we’ll include it.

Street Level (2016)

Manson plays Benny in this indie crime drama, a minor role that adds to the film’s gritty atmosphere.

Let Me Make You a Martyr (2017)

In a rare full acting role, Manson plays Pope, a quiet yet menacing hitman. His restrained, eerie performance stands out in this indie thriller.

The New Mutants (2020)

Manson provides the voice for the Smiling Man, a terrifying, faceless ghoul that appears in the film’s nightmare sequences. His eerie whispers enhance the horror atmosphere.
