Ryan Reynolds’ Net Worth In 2025: From Blockbusters To Billions In Business
Although he’s worth a multitude of millions, a huge part of Ryan Reynolds’ appeal is that he comes across as a nice, regular guy.
The likeable Canadian has the acting chops to perform a wide variety of roles, including the lead in the Marvel action-series franchise “Deadpool.” He’s also known for his self-deprecating sense of humor — frequently shared on social media in collaboration with his wife, Blake Lively; together, the pair have amassed a combined platform total of nearly 100 million adoring fans.
The couple’s A-list circle of friends includes Taylor Swift (who’s also godmother to three of their children), Hugh Jackman (Reynolds’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” costar), Salma Hayek, Gigi Hadid, John Krasinski, and Emily Blunt, which proves their worth as Hollywood Power Players.
Yet while Reynolds reportedly takes home $30–$40 million paychecks for his acting gigs, the majority of his wealth is actually generated offscreen, through a variety of business and entrepreneurial ventures that are valued well into the billions.
That’s billions — with a “b.”

Why is Ryan Reynolds in the news?
Reynolds recently made headlines for his supporting role in a real-life drama involving his wife, Blake Lively, and Justin Baldoni, her co-star and director in the hit 2024 film “It Ends with Us.”
The film, which generated $350 million at the box office, was based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel about an abusive relationship; ironically, after the film’s release, Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation.

Rumors of discord began to surface during post-production, when Reynolds and Lively unfollowed Baldoni on social media. Lively never mentioned Baldoni in interviews on the film’s press tour and did not appear with him at the film’s premiere.
On December 20, 2024, Lively filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department, alleging that Baldoni had created a hostile work environment by “entering her makeup trailer uninvited while she was undressed,” and pressuring her to lose weight after the birth of her son.

The complaint disclosed other instances of inappropriate conduct that Lively had previously raised with Baldoni and the film’s management, such as Baldoni showing Lively videos of naked women, describing his genitalia, mentioning his “pornography addiction,” and asking Lively to provide details about her and Reynolds' sex life. After Lively spoke up, the complaint continued, Baldoni embarked upon a smear campaign aimed at damaging her reputation.
The New York Times reported on the allegations on December 21, 2024; on December 31, 2024, Baldoni filed a $250 million libel lawsuit against The Times, accusing it of having “cowered to the wants and whims of two powerful ‘untouchable’ Hollywood elites” — Lively and Reynolds.
That same day, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni in New York federal court for “retaliating against her for reporting sexual harassment and workplace safety concerns.” Baldoni was subsequently sued by his ex-publicist and dropped by his talent agency, while a slew of Lively’s friends, including her “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” costars America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Bledel, issued statements of support.
As for Reynolds? Fans are convinced that he had planted thinly veiled references aimed at Baldoni in the 2024 smash “Deadpool & Wolverine.” One of the characters Reynolds portrayed in the hit film, which grossed $1.3 billion at the box office, was Nicepool, who held a striking resemblance to Baldoni — down to his “man bun” hairstyle.
Lively also appeared in the film as the character of Ladypool, and when Nicepool made comments about her post-partum body, Deadpool scolded him. Nicepool replied, “That’s okay. I identify as a feminist,” which fans believe parodies Baldoni’s stance as a “pro-women” champion; he even wrote a book entitled “Man Enough: Undefining My Masculinity” (HarperOne, 2021).
In addition, People Magazine reported that Baldoni’s lawsuit against The Times included allegations that Reynolds “aggressively berated” Baldoni during a January 2024 meeting in Reynold’s New York penthouse, during which Reynolds “demanded” an apology from Baldoni for fat-shaming Lively. When Baldoni refused, Reynolds became “enraged.”
Marvel’s writers could not have scripted it better.
What is Ryan Reynolds’ net worth in 2025?
Reynolds made Forbes’ 2020 list of Celebrity 100 Earnings with a net worth of $71.5 million, but in the five years since, his wealth has taken off even further, soaring as high as $350 million according to Celebrity Net Worth.
This online source cites his increased take at the box office for the boost in his bottom line, surmising that he could be making as much as $30–$40 million for “Deadpool 2” alone. The first installment of “Deadpool” (2016) grossed $444 million at the box office, although Reynolds didn’t take a salary. The second film generated $785 million, and Reynolds made a reported $22 million, so we can see their point.
While Forbes has yet to update their reporting on Reynolds’ personal wealth, an October 2023 article detailed how the actor used his passion, action, and talent to build a media empire, listing the valuation of the companies he co-owns or has sold at more than $14 billion.

Ryan Reynolds’ early life and career
Ryan Rodney Reynolds was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on October 23, 1976. His father, James Chester Reynolds, served as a Royal Mounted Policeman and, later, a food wholesaler. His mother, Tamara Lee, worked in retail.
Reynolds also has two brothers who became Mounties, although he was drawn to the stage. He graduated from Kitsilano Secondary School in 1994, where he became good friends with his fellow student, Joshua Jackson, who would later go on to star in the WB Series “Dawson’s Creek.”
After a brief stint at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Reynolds moved to Los Angeles to pursue his passion. His early roles focused on his comedic talents — his breakthrough role was as Berg on the TV show “Two Guys and a Girl,” which ran between 1998 and 2001.
But Hollywood had no idea what else Reynolds would be capable of.
Ryan Reynolds’ movie earnings
After his early success, Reynolds made the jump to the big screen in comedies like “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder” (2002) and “The Proposal” (2009), which co-starred another good friend, Sandra Bullock.
Reynolds packed on 25 lbs. of muscle for 2004’s “Blade: Trinity,” and although it was a flop at the box office, it did help position him as an action star. His appearance in the titular role of “Green Lantern” (2011) was another box-office disappointment but it did place Reynolds on a short list of actors to have portrayed characters from both DC Comics and Marvel (Christian Bale and Michael Keaton are two others).
2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” marked the first time Reynolds portrayed the character of Deadpool. It was a role literally written for him — in the 2004 comic book series “Cable & Deadpool” Wade Wilson, Deadpool’s alter ego, referred to himself as “Ryan Reynolds crossed with a Shar Pei.”
The film made $373 worldwide, and although that wasn’t enough to be considered a hit, it led to his titular role in 2016’s “Deadpool;” however, die-hards know that the film’s script conveniently omitted several key events that had happened in the X-Men movie.

Incredibly, Reynolds didn’t get paid for his role in “Deadpool” in order to get it through production — he actually paid his for writers’ salaries himself, telling The New York Times, “I think one of the great enemies of creativity is too much time and money. And that movie had neither time nor money. It really fostered focusing on character over spectacle, which is a little harder to execute in a comic-book movie.”
Reynolds’ sacrifice certainly paid off, as “Deadpool” earned $782.6 million at the box office and became the fourth highest-grossing R-rated movie in history. It also marked a considerable turning point in the actor’s career.
It led to “Deadpool 2” (2018), for which Reynolds got a substantial pay raise — to the reported tune of $22 million.

Ryan Reynolds’ businesses and investments
Since 2016, Reynolds has stayed busy both on and off screen, by establishing a stable of lucrative businesses.
Maximum Effort
Reynolds’ first entrepreneurial venture came shortly after “Deadpool” in 2016, when he co-founded a film production and marketing company called Maximum Effort — a Deadpool catchphrase.
The agency has been responsible for a number of ads promoting his movies and businesses, like Mint Mobile and Match.com, as well as other big-name clients, like Peloton and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
Aviation American Gin
In February 2018, Reynolds took an ownership stake in Aviation American Gin, a relatively upscale spirit label. Forbes compared the company’s then 16 followers with Reynolds’ 54 million fanbase as proof of the star power he brought to the table.
Reynolds took on a major role in the brand’s creative vision, starring in several advertising campaigns. By August 2020, the global behemoth Diageo announced it had acquired Aviation American Gin for $610 million — Reynolds reportedly pocketed $122 million from the deal.
Mint Mobile
In November 2019, Reynolds purchased a stake of between 20% and 25% in Mint Mobile, a mobile virtual network company. The company was acquired by T-Mobile on March 15, 2023 in a deal worth $1.35 billion. According to Yahoo, Reynolds made a cool $330 million from it.
Wrexham football club
In September 2020, Reynolds and friend Rob McElhenney purchased a Welsh football (soccer to Americans) club, Wrexham AFC, for $2.5 million. They subsequently produced the popular Disney+ documentary series “Welcome to Wrexham,” which detailed the team's ascent to the English Football League.
However, this is one investment Reynolds has yet to recoup — the soccer club currently owes the duo $12 million, although management believes their losses can be offset by additional sponsorship revenue.

Additional ventures
In June 2023, Reynolds and McElhenney announced they had invested in another sporting group — this time, the Formula One Alpine F1 Team. They bought a 24% equity stake in the team. The BBC says the F1 team is valued at roughly $872 million.
Reynolds’ other investments include Wealthsimple, a Canadian financial startup valued at roughly $3.4 billion and 1Password, which is valued at $6.8 billion. He also has equity stakes in the streaming service FuboTV and the payment processor Nuvei, and he sits on the board of directors of Match Group, which owns Tinder and Match.com, among other apps.
Ryan Reynolds’ charitable ventures
After Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Reynolds and Lively pledged $1 million to Ukrainian refugees through UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.
They made a $500,000 donation to Water First in 2022, which provides indigenous people in Canada with clean water.
They also donated $1 million to cleanup efforts through Feeding American in October 2024 to aid victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
Ryan Reynolds’ homes and real estate holdings
Neighbors with Martha Stewart, who advised the couple on their 2012 wedding, Reynolds and Lively spend most of their time in a $5.7 million, 9,000-square foot estate in Pound Ridge, New York. Located an hour north of the city, it includes a barn and a separate guest house. The main house boasts seven bedrooms and six bathrooms as well as what Architectural Digest calls a “chic, rustic exterior.”

They also own a loft downtown in a Tribeca warehouse. Details are vague about their particular unit, but the historic building formerly housed a book-binding company and contains a spectacular central courtyard.

Ryan Reynolds’ personal life
As an A-list actor, Reynolds has had an A-list dating life, becoming engaged to 90s rock star Alanis Morrisette in 2004 (they called it off in 2007) and marrying actress Scarlett Johansson in 2008. They split up in 2010, the same year Reynolds connected with Lively on the set of “Green Lantern.”
Their first date was famously a double date with other people, but the two hit it off so well their respective suitors soon left. They were married on September 9, 2012, at Boone Hall Plantation in South Carolina, although Reynolds later apologized for this choice due to the venue’s history of slavery.
They share four children:
- James, a daughter, who was born in 2015
- Inez, a daughter, both in 2016
- Betty, a daughter, born in 2019
- Olin, a son, born in 2023
