Brother And Sister Teamed Up ‘like Bonnie And Clyde’ For Robberies, Florida Cops Say

A Florida version of Bonnie and Clyde emerged in January when a brother and sister began robbing businesses together, but the results were more embarrassing than profitable, investigators say.

The duo apparently forgot to make sure their targets had money on hand, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said in a Feb. 3 news release.

“This brother and sister duo joined forces like Bonnie and Clyde and tried to rob Moncrief Bail Bonds, along with a juvenile!” Sheriff Wayne Ivey said in a news release.

“It all started on (Jan. 6), when our agency received a call from employees stating that two individuals came into the business wearing masks, demanding money. ... Well plot twist, there was no cash at the business so the subjects fled.”

The armed duo wore distinctive black hoodies, black ski masks and black gloves, and detectives soon discovered a similarly dressed team “committed an armed robbery the night before in the city of Cocoa Beach,” officials said.

Investigators haven’t revealed how they identified the suspects, but the team included a 29-year-old man (“a convicted felon”), his 27-year-old sister (as the getaway driver) and a juvenile, the sheriff’s office said.

It took a couple weeks to catch all three, but they are now in custody and face a series of robbery-related charges that include a mix of felonies and misdemeanors.

“This is definitely a type of family bonding you don’t see every day, but folks I don’t recommend it!” Ivey said in the release.
