You Can Now Earn United Miles With Turo
United MileagePlus members can earn miles when renting a Turo car thanks to a new partnership between the car-sharing service and the airline.
As of Dec. 4, you can rent a Turo car and earn 1 mile per dollar spent after earning 5 miles per dollar spent on your first Turo trip. You must add your MileagePlus number to your Turo account online to participate.
If you are unfamiliar with Turo, it is a peer-to-peer car-sharing service where hosts loan their cars to guests for a set length of time. Turo cars are currently available to rent in more than 12,000 cities in the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Australia and France.
Similar to Kyte, most credit cards’ rental car insurance policies do not cover Turo rentals, but Turo requires all users to elect a minimum coverage plan via their rental agreement.
In addition to earning United miles, Turo users can link their Delta SkyMiles account to earn 500 miles per rental after earning 2,000 miles on their first rental.
TUROTuro users can earn points and miles on rentals if they pay with a card that earns bonus points for travel purchases because Turo rentals code as travel.
Plus, Turo car rentals offer similar earnings opportunities as traditional car rentals, including Amex Offers for eligible cardholders.
