[mi] Do I Have A Valid Legal Argument To Prevent My Employer From Letting Me Go Despite Being Out Of Fmla?

I’m out of FMLA but still on short term disability and there’s talk of potentially letting me go since I’m out of FMLA. However, I’m only off work as a result of the negligence of my employers medical providers. If the providers would have followed through and done what they said they were going to do, or addressed some things in a timely manner before it escalated to the point of me needing to be on disability (and longer than expected while my new providers are doing their best to fix everything).

So, is there legal ground to stand on to consult a lawyer to talk to the health system’s legal team to be like, “Hey look, you guys are trying to let go one of your high performing employees because she’s out of FMLA, but she’s only out on disability and out of FMLA due to a couple of your providers/other employees negligence. Are you sure you want to do that?”

I don’t have enough to go after anyone for medmal because in Michigan is basically life or limb in order to succeed with medmal, but I feel like I should get job protection of some kind at the least. There’s other things I could go after the health system for, especially since multiple providers/employees were involved in my condition getting to what it is/was and multiple hospitalizations, ER visits and procedures.
