(wisconsin) Dad Is Almost 2 Million In Debt

hello! my father was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer at the end of 2023. he's been getting regular treatments since then, including some ambulance rides and other medical bills. now, with insurance, he's in 1.7 million dollars in medical bills. he's making the minimum payments he can. him and my mother are married, and they're still paying off our house. i'm just worried and overwhelmed with this, i had no idea we were this bad until now. we don't know if we can continue treatment because of how expensive it is. he will die eventually, there is no cure. i was just wondering, when he does, where does the debt go to? i assume my mother, but we would not be able to pay this off. he also has 2 other children, if that makes any difference. i can answer any questions needed, i really appreciate the help. thank you for reading!
