23f, 4 Months Pregnant. Job Threatening To Fire Me If I Miss 1 Day Within 60 Days.
Hi, I live in Fl and work at a pretty big healthcare company with more than 1000 employees. I recently found out I am 4 months pregnant, I also have an upper respiratory infection that has been going on for about 2 weeks now. In order to leave work for Dr appointments or take a day due to Dr telling me to stay home, I HAVE to use my PTO, I only acquire 4 hours every 2 weeks. I hit my full year in April. Yesterday i went to the ER because my potassium was very low, had to be hooked up to an IV, given zofran because I haven’t been able to eat or keep anything down for days, my doctor gave me a day off and when I came back into work and gave the paper to my boss she told me “Ill place this in your medical file but if you miss ONE more day within 60 days then we can fire you, and I really don’t want to see you go” I feel like this is so unfair, in 60 days I will be 6 months pregnant and my OB said I need to be seeing her more often (once a week) I’ve been reading up on FLMA and the PWFA and it doesn’t seem like they can just fire me because I don’t have the PTO to cover after a doctor told me to stay home to avoid spreading germs to patients I see. Any advice?
