8 1/2 Months Pregnant During An Acquisition. Can I Get Laid Off?
As the title says, I'm 8 1/2 months pregnant. My due date is 1/20. I was told I had to wait till Dec 1 at least to apply for leave. I just applied for my leave, fmla, and short term disability on Friday. Over the weekend, the sale/acquisition was finalized.
Layoffs have been happening over the last couple months. Yesterday and today, more higher up employees have been let go. I work in the finance team and the layoffs this week have been from that team.
My manager got an inquiry from HR today about a half day last week he approved for me outside of regular PTO. The only way I can think of that they knew about that was to have looked through my teams messages. It seems so weird they would be doing that. Feels like they are looking for cause?
I'm getting really scared that because my fmla hasn't been approved yet, that I'm going to get laid off. I'm very scared about losing insurance right before a major medical event.
I've never been laid off or fired, can anyone give me insight on what can happen? Can they lay me off at this point still or would I have some course of action if they do?
