A Customer Died With A Large Amount Of My Inventory
Michigan USA
So I know the obvious solution would have been to not do the leaving stuff with them, but they were a major customer and we had done this multiple times in the past.
Essentially I make my product and they buy a couple thousand worth, but they like to pick through and get just the ones they like most, so it tends to work best if I leave them there and a couple of days later I come in, they hand me a check for the ones they picked and I leave with the rest of my inventory.
This time though, I just found out a couple of hours ago that she decided to end her own life. I only found out a couple of hours ago, but she was supposed to contact me in another two days. I swung by the storefront and it was closed. I contacted the Facebook page but idk if that will ever be checked again, I know someone posted they would be closed, but I don't have faith they will be checking it much anymore. She doesn't have much in the way of family as far as I know. I sent messages to one of her employees I know but idk if she even used her Facebook, the last post is like 3 years old.
I hate that at a time like this that my mind is on how this effects me, but that was two months of work because she had been in vacation, so I was saving up a good amount of inventory for her.
I have photos of all of the stones and she always paid by check, so there's nothing showing she paid me for any of them. I know her employees would vouch for me, but there's no reason for me to believe they will be part of the equation.
Do I have any options? Do I just have to hope someone decides to do work despite the person paying them is deccesed?
If I have to wait for the estate, it may leave me in a very very very bad position financially. If I never get them back, I may very well be ruined.
I'm waiting to hear back hopefully from someone but I'm just a giant ball of anxiety right now so posting here and asking for advice is all I got.
