A Doctor In The Workplace Put Her Hands On Me. I Ended Up Fired. Do I Have A Case? Details Below.
This is in reference to the state of Texas, USA. I worked without issue at a private practice medical office for years. Around a month ago, one of the physicians who is also an owner, grabbed me with both of her hands out of frustration. I did not escalate this situation at the time it occurred, but days later sent her an email stating I wished to discuss the incident. My whole department was brought back for a “conversation” about this incident where she was supposedly apologetic. Fast forward a couple weeks I’m overdue for my annual review and am told that I am not getting a raise. I was provided a list of “issues” about me within my position which were new to me. Fast forward another week, and today I am presented with a write up accusing me of saying something off the clock, on the way out the door, after business hours. I decline/refuse to sign this write up. Then not even two hours later, I am suddenly fired for “insubordination”.
Is this at least worth consulting an employment attorney? I have a lot of documentation on paper in regard to these scenarios. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
