A Pipe Burst In My Apartment A Few Months Ago, And Now My Apartment Wants Me To Pay For It

So October 7, my Pipe burst to my apartment and two days before my dad died so it was only me in that apartment and I was cleaning out my stuff and the pipe is in my dad‘s bathroom. I just heard it was like a gunshot and then water kept piling everywhere. I just got a thing where they’re trying to get his renters insurance to pay for it, but the insurance denied the claim but now they want me to pay for it out of my pocket, but I didn’t do anything. No one actually caused the pipe burst it just randomly burst. Do I have to pay for that or is it responsible for the apartment? I didn’t touch it. Please help me this happened in Texas. does anyone know who’s responsibility it is
