Accused Of Assault, Disparaging Culture, And Education Then Demoted...
Hello All,
Not sure what all I can do here, I am not looking for monetary compensation as the demotion didn't come with a pay reduction only a public apology from the accuser.
On 11/27 I was accused of assault (claims I supposedly grabbed their collar at least a month earlier) and disparaging their culture and education. A month later I apparently embarrassed this individual or angered them by countering their ridiculous claims and negativity. When I was accused I was told I need to plan to work from home the following work day (11/29 Friday), I was flabbergasted and could not properly defend myself, I wrote a summary of the day that caused the incident . I then made a mistake with a group membership and inadvertently removed the individual from the wrong teams group but added them back immediately (I have screen shots). I was told I was instigating and forced to take PTO on 11/29 because of this. An investigation was launched by HR the following Monday.
I only had one contact with the HR person conducting the investigation on 12/5 for a different issue but was told that the investigation was wrapping up and I had nothing to worry about (They were dotting I's and crossing T's).
I didn't hear anything back until 12/30 when I was told the investigation had already been completed previously (never heard anything) and that the complaint was a non issue. However during the 'meeting' I was told I was being demoted for poor performance. This was completely fabricated. A month earlier I had my performance review and it was all meets expectations. In addition when I asked for something to go on so that I could improve in those areas I was told 'I am not going to go into those details with you'. I spoke to every member of my team and none of them spoke with management regarding me in addition to my 'new' supervisor.
This feels like total targeting and I don't intend to stay with this company, I am however in a difficult situation with a background investigation hanging out there (paid for by the company) and both my wife and I needing insurance coverage in the short term, so I need to stick around for another month or two. This individual is notorious for being difficult to work with and argumentative and negative in general.
Any ideas or suggestions on what my options are? I bent over backwards for this person and got nice little knife in the back in return... I have sooo many text messages to my personal phone and teams messages from them that give absolutely no indication that I grabbed this person by the shirt collar or disparaged their culture or education. Meanwhile, they now get a cushy work from home job and a new supervisor.
