Advice On An Assault I Was A Victim Of.

I was punched in the face an KO momentarily. I hit my head on the floor and was fine and ultimately did not go to the hospital. I want to press charges but not sure due to the events that took place.

I’ve never seen this person in my life but me and my buddy assume he must’ve thought I was looking at the girl he was with in certain ways (which not true since I was never interested). After the bar closed, i was outside leaning over my buddy’s car on his passenger side while he sat in the driver seat. At one point I looked at the direction of the aggressor and for reasons I can’t even think about, he started screaming “why you looking over here” in an aggressive manner and started coming up to me. As he came up to me and continued to speak aggressively, I continued to lean on the window and responded to him that I had no idea what he was talking about.

This continued for another 10-15 seconds and that’s when i stood up straight. My buddy inside the car started telling him to calm down and back away as my buddy reached for his gun to protect himself just in case (he has a license to carry concealed and we live in Florida). I looked at my buddy for that second and all of a sudden I took a punch to the face and was knocked out. Don’t even remember or saw his punch and I never responded aggressively. My buddy cocked his gun and the aggressor scrambled away. My buddy got out of the car with his gun in his hand and the guy ended up leaving quickly in his vehicle.

The aggressor then flashed a gun out of the car as they drove away. The reason I add this detail is because I’ve also found out the aggressor is a convicted felon and obviously can’t have a gun.

My question is if I should file a police report and press charges, which I want to do, but don’t want any issues happening to my friend as what he did could have saved my life and we don’t know how lawful what he did it.
