Am I Actually Still Legally Married?

Card image cap

I had been separated from my now ex-wife for 3 plus years before she started pushing for a divorce so she could remarry. We were married in the state of Utah and both still lived in Utah when we filed the divorce papers. We had no children and all of our assets had already been divided over the three years so it was a pretty simple divorce. My ex had the papers prepared and sent to me with little tabs on the side where I was supposed to sign and I sent them back to her to have them filed. In my basic brain I was divorced once the papers were filed. I was wrong

Fast forward 4 months and I was at a concert in Las Vegas with my now wife that I had been seeing for almost 2 years. There was definitely some adult beverages involved but long story shorter we ended up at the Little Chapel of the West and were married. About two weeks after our unplanned nuptials I received a copy of my divorce decree and they were signed by the judge 8 days after I had married to my now wife.

My question is, We’ve now been together for 16 almost 17 years. If we were to divorce would we have to go through the whole divorce procedure or is our marriage non existent because of my first divorce?
