Am I In The Right To Report My Workplace For Not Allowing Us To Take Breaks
I work at a fast food pizza chain as a manager In Tennessee, I only started at this job a few months ago. I am a minor so i get a break after 6 hours of work but I’ve noticed the other managers who are over 18 don’t take breaks on shifts that can go anywhere from 8-12 hours, I asked my GM why that is and she told me that “in tennessee it’s legal for employees to not get breaks as long as they are adults and therefore they don’t get a break”. i’ve done research online and cannot find a single source that says this is true, every website i’ve seen has stated that “State law requires that employees must be provided a thirty (30) minute unpaid meal or rest period if scheduled six (6) consecutive hours” including the tn.gov website. Is my employer breaking the law? and if so how would I go about reporting this? I turn 18 soon and I don’t want to get the same treatment as the other managers.
