Am I Liable To Repay My Company?

Card image cap

I work for a large tractor/equipment dealer in Ohio. On December 19th, I sold some handheld equipment using an Apple Pay Card, and now the owner of the card is disputing the charge. I asked for ID and checked it out, and then sold the equipment to him using the card number from his Apple Pay Wallet, as we don't have the ability to take tap pay. They are saying that if it comes back as credit card fraud, I am responsible for the amount.

I could be completely wrong, but wouldn't I have to agree to pay it back? It is also my understanding that they can go ahead and fire me if I don't agree to do so.

Help a Green girl out?
