Asked My Manager To Open A Work Comp Case For Me. He Did Not Under The Grounds Of "he's Not Sure It Would Go Through."
Light context, I was assaulted in my place of work a few weeks ago by a patient. The patient called the cops on himself after refusing to leave after his behavior was non-conductive for outpatient treatment.
Several times he charged me with his power wheelchair, hitting the walls and chairs in the process. Several times he obstructed my egress saying that I'm not leaving until I treat him. Several times he went from from the waiting room to find me where I had all but barricaded myself in the furthest reach of the clinic, one time running over an officer's foot in the mean time. The entire time disrupting other patients sessions by yelling. He threw stuff in my direction the last time he had me cornered.
I have a history of PTSD. This sent me immediately into shutdown. I took a few days off of work. I had medical appointments that I needed to call off work for. I asked my manager to open a work comp claim and he did not after coming to the conclusion that nothing would probably come of it anyways since it wasn't physical.
My manager made me alter my incident report several times to remove information that he didn't find relevant to the scenario.
He recommended that I not pursue a PFA or any legal recourse.
I asked for company resources to help me mentally and I was told he couldn't share those as I'm a contractor.
Obviously I realize I made a few mistakes in not advocating for myself better but as I'm coming back to "normal" I'm wondering if there's anything I should go back and fix or if it's too late to start filing some of the paperwork.
