Being Sued By Discover. Is There Any Point In My Going Back For Second Hearing After The Continuance Discover Filed?
I owe Discover $7000. They sued me. I answered and showed up for court. When speaking to Discover’s attorney I let them know our household income was social security and a small pension. Also, I had to quit my part-time job to be full time caregiver to my sick husband. The attorney asked if I had looked into bankruptcy and I said I had but it was not a viable option in our circumstance. I told the attorney I could only pay $25 a month and asked for a balance reduction and payment plan but was told Discover would not agree to that. Discover’s attorney asked for a continuance to investigate my hardship claim. The new court date is tomorrow. I owe the money. I figure Discover will ask for judgement and place a lien on our home. Is there any chance of working something out if I come to court? Or is it just a waste of my time because they’re going to get the judgment anyway?
