Boss Won’t Stop Talking About His Genitals.

Card image cap

I (28F) work in the Civil Service of a Midwest state. My previous supervisor, 'Joe' (not real name), made the workplace incredibly uncomfortable by frequently discussing his and his family members' genitals. This happened repeatedly, including in front of other colleagues.

Two weeks before his retirement (last day of November 2024), this behavior escalated, he went on a long tirade about his doctor’s appointment to check is prostrate and how he had to control himself when the young nurse was examining his penis. This time it was in front of another female colleague and we filed a formal complaint. Joe was removed from the office and placed on remote work while the matter was investigated. I was also assigned a new supervisor.

Today, I learned that Joe is returning to work on a contract basis and will once again be my supervisor. While my new supervisor confirmed that Joe has been disciplined, he stated that he was not at liberty to tell us (the victims) the specific disciplinary actions.

This situation deeply disturbs me. I believe that Joe's previous behavior created a hostile work environment, and I am extremely uncomfortable with the prospect of working under his supervision again.

Do I have any legal recourse in this situation? I'm concerned about potential retaliation and the ongoing impact this has on my mental health and well-being.
