Can A Dealership Require Customer In Person For Refund? (fl)
Hi LA,
Long and short of it is my mom drove a couple hrs to a shady dealership to see a car and put a $500 “holding deposit” on it that the dealership said was refundable.
She came home and we helped her pick a more reasonable car. She’s been trying to get the $500 from the other dealership, but they are saying they require her in person to refund it (original $500 was put on her discover CC).
It’s 2.5 hrs each way to this dealership (which is only open M-F…) and they’re not budging that she has to return in person for the refund. Can we just dispute the charge? Are they within their rights to only give refunds in person?
TIA
