Can I Sue My Home Insurance Company For Incorrectly Charging Me?

My insurance company charged my mortgage company two payments when they weren’t suppose to. My insurance company informed me that they sent a refund check to my mortgage company.

My mortgage hasn’t received the check and I haven’t yet, in case they sent it to me and my monthly payment has gone up.

Now here’s the kicker, I put in a request for mortgage assistance right before these charges and I just got the letter informing me that I was approved that I need to sign and return by a certain date. I’m waiting to hear back from my mortgage company if I’ll need to resubmit the claim but that already took nearly a month a half!

I was already stressed from paying the mortgage after it went up but now I’m even more stressed, trying to just get current on my mortgage payments. I know that eventually this will get sorted out but I am concerned that if I have to reapply for the claim, that the lien will increase on top of interest and whatever else is accruing.

As a side note, I just started going to therapy and taking antidepressant from the stress of mortgage payments and now on top of this, I am barely managing my sanity.
