Can Witnessing A Traumatic Event Be Grounds For Suit?
I witnessed a woman get hit by a speeding car. She was crossing the street in a cross walk, but the driver hit her and kept going. I immediately ran to her and yelled for the car next to me to call 911. We did our best to stop the bleeding, but had no pulse when ems arrived. She died several hours later at the hospital.
Ever since this event last week, I have been having nightmares and borderline panic attacks. I relive the scene in my head at random times.
Is there any grounds for suit against the driver/insurance (he was arrested later that day) for the emotional distress this has caused me?
