Chase Bank Closed My Account, Took My Money, And Left Me Stranded—now They Won’t Give It Back

I deposited a check for my military disability compensation, and shortly after, Chase locked me out of my accounts without any explanation. I called customer service multiple times, and they refused to tell me why my account was frozen. A few days later, while I was on vacation in another state, they fully closed my account, leaving me stranded with no money.

When I finally got through to someone, I was given contradictory answers and little to no help. At one point, I was told “You signed the contract” when I asked why they shut my account down. Another rep told me, “A veteran is going around cashing in checks,” basically implying fraud. Instead of assisting me in verifying my check, they told me to call the U.S. Treasury, pushing the responsibility elsewhere.

Now, Chase is refusing to release my remaining money, claiming “verification issues.” I followed their instructions and submitted the documents their own branch manager told me were required, but they denied them without notice. Every time I call, they tell me to wait on hold for hours or call back later. I’ve been playing phone tag between Chase and the Treasury with no resolution.

I’m filing a CFPB complaint because I’m done wasting my time with Chase. I just want what’s rightfully mine—my money—and compensation for the financial hardship they put me through. Has anyone else dealt with something like this? How did you get your money?
