Confused On What To Do Here.

Haven't had a working bathtub since Thursday, (January 2nd) due to something in the pipes that both my tub and upstairs neighbors' tub are connected to. 4 plumbers have come out since then and have checked the main line to the road by sending a camera down and have said that line is cleared, no obstructions. But, the pipe that connects my tub and upstairs tub is where the clog or break lies.

As I stated, 4 plumbers have been out here. 2 of them tell me yesterday morning that we might have to move, that the tub will have to be ripped out on Monday and it'll take months to fix. Homeowner rushes over yesterday and tells us that he's gonna have a "drain guy" come out and inspect the drains and see what the "bid" will be to fix it, and will go from there. I was absolutely shocked to hear that. Plus, what is this other plumber gonna do differently than what these guys haven't already done? If the tubs need to be ripped out and replaced, so be it. That's not on us..

My husband and him had a heated argument about this entire situation and a $128 charge we got a month after our house flooded, for refusing entry to a vendor, even though it was the homeowner who came by and inspected the effort we made to clean it up. (I have video proof he came over that night. PM didn't want to hear me out, and said the charge would stay.)

So, my question is, if the tub has to be ripped out tomorrow, what are our steps to take? Plumber yesterday morning said it'll take MONTHS to fix both tubs, so should we start looking for a new place, or wait for the tub to be ripped out and go from there? Homeowner has had 4 days to start repairs on this, but all he's had is 4 people come out and inspect what's going on. We can't just not shower, and I've just paid rent this month, though the PM is claiming they haven't seen it. (I sent it through the mail right after Christmas, and I understand that New Years can affect postage, but I'm being charged late fees even though it's not late) I'm just at a loss.

And would this be conflict of interest because it's greatly affecting us, too..

Homeowner and the PM are related through his wife, and he's told us on multiple occasions that he can't do much because he has to let the PM handle everything, when they don't handle much of anything, and when they send a vendor out, 8/10 it's the homeowner. But, he wants us to pretend we don't know him or tell the PM we know him. My husband's dad and uncles went to high-school with the homeowner, and my husband knows him because he lived in the same neighborhood as well.

We've never rented through a property management, and probably won't rent through one after this. They never communicate, if ever. They've lied to us, tried to come in to do inspections without notifying us and when we've told them we've never gotten notice, they claim we've blocked their numbers, but they have our emails on file and was never notified by email, either. We have a dog, and if they did come in, they could've gotten seriously hurt. We spoke to police about that incident, and even the cops told us that if our dog did attack them, we wouldn't have been in the wrong.

I'm just at a loss at what to do and I just want the lease to end so we can move out. But, with the tub being ripped out possibly this week, we'd be able to break the lease and leave without penalty, right?? That's the 1 question I need an answer to. I just want to be confident in knowing we'll be okay.
