Contractor Stole $150 Dollars From My Paycheck When I Quit

As the title says, I did some contracted work for someone. I quit after I realized taking a 50% cut is greedy and I’d be better off making money on my own. This man texts me telling me I owe him 150 dollars and he will be taking it out of my paycheck if I don’t return a scrub shirt which was bought for 17 dollars from Target. I didn’t think he was serious, as I never agreed to having to wear a uniform in any of the contracts and never signed anything saying I’d be responsible for the cost of a “required” uniform. Doesn’t this violate the FSLA law?? This guy literally just stole 150 dollars from my hard work and I don’t know what to do!!!
