Contractors Won't Do Final Walk Through And Send Bill

Card image cap

So this is in Texas.

We had a pipe burst, and there was damage inside the house. We called some demo/repair company, they gave us a quote, we got insurance money, then paid them half up front.

Work took a really long time, but it's done, it's to our liking. We have only 1 minor complaint were willing to live with.

The problem is that these people will not send us the info to pay the second half until they do a final walk through, and they're dragging their feet on it.

The repairs have been done for about 4 months now. We've emailed them multiple times and just haven't gotten a response back.

At what point is it OK for us to just stop trying? I feel like we're knocking on their door begging to let us pay them.

I don't want anything to bite us, but at some point do we just get to keep what's leftover of the insurance money?? Is there a time limit on these things?
