Cop Car Hit My Car While I Was Driving. Now It Might Be A Total Loss…

I’m okay, not injured. I have a little back pain but I always have back pain.

Got the police report, pictures, insurance is informed etc, but I took it to my insurance specific repair shop and they’re saying that it might in fact be declared a total loss. I drive a very modest car and it’s worth is no more than $6-7k if I’m being generous. So my question is, will the city PD insurance just pay me out and I’m SOL and have to come up with the funds to help pay the difference for a new car?

This is all just so unfair and I’m really struggling right now. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
