Court Trying To Subpoena Family Members For A Domestic Battery.

I am being tried for domestic battery of my stepfather, and something we agreed upon is that he isn’t going to co-operate with the courts or press the matter. My PubDef is the one who advised me that if we take the matter to trial if my stepfather doesn’t co-operate with the courts, they’ll throw it out. But now my family is being subpoenaed and someone with the local sheriff came to serve them papers. My step dad said just to say he wasn’t home.

Can someone tell me why this could be? I’m going to talk with my attorney as well.
