Cps Got Reported And I'd Rather Not Have Them Meddle In My Life (nj)
To be clear, I am the minor in this situation, and I am in NJ.
On one of my college essays for CommonApp, in the Additional Info section, I wrote a bit about my home life, which frankly wasn't the best. This apparently raised some concerns with AOs, and yesterday, I was called down to the nurse's office to talk to a CPS officer about my experience. I essentially reiterated what I had written, plus one other bad experience I had with my parents. This was probably a mistake.
Afterwards, I called and asked if they could just drop the case, since I didn't want it to interfere with my life. My relationship with my parents right now is cordial, and seeing as I'm almost graduating, I just want to spend this last year with them peacefully, WITHOUT CPS meddling in my life and making it not-so-peaceful. They said they had to anyway.
Today, I came home from school to find a card with a number kind of jammed into the doorknob. My parents both work at home, so neither of them had seen it. I called the number to ask them the question again, but got no response, so I texted them, essentially saying "Hey, appreciate the concern, but I'd rather not have you guys meddle in my life. However, if you really want me to, I'll pass the number to my parents". It said they read it, but when I sent two follow-up messages, they left me on delivered. So far, there still hasn't been any response.
I've done a bit of research, and what I've seen is that the DCP&P (NJ's CPS) doesn't have the authority to file criminal charges or whatever, but that they CAN file court cases. I really don't want this to spiral out of control, but I'm afraid that I've already made a bunch of mistakes by sending that text and all. Any advice on how to stop CPS?
