Creditor Starting A Lawsuit, Not Sure What To Do Next.
Hello, I’ll try to keep this short. One of the local bankruptcy attorneys I’ve met with, near Fairfield County, CT, takes a while to respond and I’m really just trying to figure out the next steps. When buying my business and renovating it I used a lot of credit. Unfortunately things didn’t go well and I decided to use all the cash I had left to redo again instead of quit and pay off debt (in hopes of making a profit to then pay off debt from the business success). I’m literally a week away from the relaunch and just got a court summons stating the creditor is suing me personally and my business (I personally cosigned on the credit). I have no cash to pay them and I only have the business assets. I have zero clue whether or not I’ll be successful if I reopen my doors to pay off creditors. Do I just call it quits and file for bankruptcy and not reopen and have the creditor take my business assets (I have no more personal assets to my name), or try to reopen and make money to then have the attorney try and negotiate payment plan if im successful in the relaunch? Relaunch is supposed to be in a week and I have to sign the summons and return by end of January 2025. Thanks in advance!
