Da Wants Value Of Property Lost Via Arson In Tn.

A convience store we owned was destroyed by arson. The store was not being operated at the time, so no inventory was lost, but all of the equipment was there and functional. Everything, building and equipment are a total loss.

The arsonist was caught, tried, and convicted (he confessed).

The DA called and wanted to know the value of the building and contents to present to the judge for restitution payments. Should the value be what it would cost to replace everything, or what we originally paid for everything? I didn't think to ask while I was on the phone with him. I was too shocked that there might be any restitution.
