Daughters Airpods Taken Home By Teacher

Hello!

My daughter’s AirPods fell out of her book bag and a teacher took it upon themselves to take them home. We’ve been connected to the AirPods watching them for movement on the FIND MY app.

We filed a police report but because they were showing up at a 300+ unit condo in downtown Chicago , the police couldn’t investigate unless it was pinging to a single family residence.

The teacher brought the AirPods back to school with them and we tracked the movement and my daughter’s father waited at the school to see who would show up. He approached the two who arrived together and tried to not accost them but said perhaps they were mistakenly taken etc etc, the vice principal (one of the two) got very defensive and said they would handle the matter. My spouse called the police, at the same time The school called the police and said he was stalking a teacher. The police officer said he was tracking his property not stalking a teacher.

Long story short after they ditched the AirPods in a snowy bank outside a couple blocks from our house and we cannot find them outside.

Is there anything we can do to make the school pay for a new pair? How do we approach this situation? At this point it’s become about principle of the matter and integrity. I’m very mad that instead of just returning the AirPods they chose to ditch them.
