Dealer Accepted Check For Car, Now Wants Funds Wired.

I live in Pennsylvania and bought a used car from an Acura dealer in Virginia. I don’t have checks, haven’t written one in years. Got a convenience check from the bank and asked the dealer repeatedly if that was okay. They said it was. Went there, bought the car, wrote the check and they accepted it. Experience was not good though and the dealer was a mess. I have the car, they have the title. Two days later (today) the finance manager calls and says he screwed up and they can’t accept that check because it doesn’t have a check number. Tells me I need to go to the bank and wire funds. I’m nervous because they will still have the check. Also now I have to pay a bunch of fees to stop the check and wire the money. They couldn’t care less. So I leave work early to go to the bank. I get to the bank to put a stop on the check and wire the funds. Bank is nervous for the same reason I am. They say they can put a stop on it but it takes 24 hours to clear and it’s tricky to be certain with a convenience check. Also hate to charge me if they can just void it and send me proof. I call the finance manager and ask him to void the check before I wire the funds. Says he can’t, accounting went home. I say that stinks because now I have to leave work early again to go to the bank tomorrow. He gets super shitty about how that’s my choice and all I have to do is wire the money. Bank manager is super nervous now hearing how he just treated me on the phone. Bank was closing in like two minutes so I just left and called my mother who’s an accountant. She said they might not want to void the check because then they have nothing but again they’re refusing to accept it so who knows. Also says I could just stand my ground on the fact that the it’s a good check, they accepted it, just cash it. I plan to speak with accounting at the dealer tomorrow and hope they will be friendlier and understand my concern but I’m not sure what the best solution is. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
