Delivery Driver Slipped On My Stairs Delivering A Bedframe
I got an adjustable bedframe delivered. I live in Florida. The company I purchased it from is pretty reputable, but they used a third-party delivery company. I live in a two-story house and two of them were trying to push this frame up the upper flight of stairs. Somehow one of them slipped backwards when they were up maybe one step and slammed into the landing wall creating a 2 ftsq hole.
I had cleared the stairs before they got there and the stairs are carpeted and not loose in anyway so nothing negligent or dangerous afaik. The guy apologized for doing it and the lead guy said he would call me tomorrow to have a handyman come out and do a quote to repair the wall.
I text the lead guy today (who I think is the owner of the delivery company) and he tells me: “Yes I’m waiting on my handyman to get back with me I’ll reach out to you soon as I hear from him.. The guy who almost went through your wall didn’t show up for work he call and said his wife had to take him to the hospital due to his back stiffed up and pain”. That was the only text I got from him.
I’m not sure how to respond. I feel bad for the guy who hurt his back, but the pessimistic side of me tells me this is him setting up to sue me.
Should I call my homeowners insurance? Not really sure if this rises to that level yet.
