Dentist Did Work Under Duress. Permanent Damage To Jaw

Card image cap

New York, USA.

Wednesday May 5th at 8:15am I left the emergency room after being treated for severe tooth pain. I was scared it had gotten infected and being so close to the head and poor as hell so not being able to work wasn't an option. I followed all of the ER instructions and went looking for a doctor.

8:45am I walk into a dentist office. The only one in a reasonable distance that accepts my crap insurance. Mind you I haven't slept or ate anything in two days.

Dentist seems nice, reviews are crap but It is what it is. The dentist starts looking says she needs to do a SINGLE tooth extraction. She then begins to numb me and then walks out of the room.

The dental assistant comes in with a form of consent etc. I am so numb and drowsy I dropped the pen and she sort of had to help me sign them.

The next thing I can remember is the dentist telling me the first tooth is out. I remember trying to ask why we weren't done then. She ignored me the several times I tried to ask.

Everything is sort of a blur. By the end of it she had pulled 4 teeth. One of which isn't even on the side that hurt. When I begin to sober up enough to ask why she took so many. She just kind of waved me off and walked out of the room.

I try asking the assistant lady why they pulled so many and she just kept saying "I can't understand you." Then she is PULLING me out of the chair and telling me I have to leave because they have patients waiting. I fell over twice from being light headed. How I made it home is still a mystery and is scary to think about.

So I've been taking care of them like the instructions informed me. Following the directions and taking pictures each day. I knew something wasn't right so I've been trying to document everything and give it time to heal.

Friday I emailed the dentist asking why she pulled so many teeth. Trying to get clarity. I got scathing email back informing me I consented to the work and not to contact the dentist office again.

Day 5 and I still can't close my mouth entirely. I feel like the healing process is moving along well....except for my jaw. I literally can't chew food or close my mouth entirely.

What do I do? Do I try and contact the dentist office again? Do I go back to the ER? There isn't another dentist anywhere close and I just don't know what to do.

Any advice would help.
