Do I Need A Lawyer For A Misdemeanor ?

I recently got into a no injury, no dui, solo car accident in Minnesota.

After calling 911 the police came and gave me a ticket for “duty to drive with due care” which is misdemeanor not just a petty misdemeanor parking ticket. I have not received a court date yet but will likely get it in a few weeks.

In my scenario would it be worth it to hire a lawyer come to court with me and help talk with the prosecutor or go alone. I am not sure how much that would cost

Because this is my first traffic ticket I wonder if I can have the ticket not stay on my record or plead for a petty misdemeanor crime.

I would like some pointers for what to do on my court date and how much I would need to pay for a lawyer if needed.
