Doctor Withheld Information From My Wife.

Card image cap

I want to apologize at the top here, this is not the most eloquent thing I have ever written, I am a bit shaken up still.

So my wife has been going to a doctor for about 2 years. She has, since the beginning, she has tried to advocate for herself and explain to the doctor that she thought she had "Disease". Lets just call it that to exclude any specifics.

She got an ultrasound to check out a symptom she had been experiencing. Now I am not exactly sure of how everything works, but essentially the result of the ultra sound is that she has "Disease". Now, instead of letting my wife know, the doctor decided to tell her something along the lines of "I don't know, bodies are weird."

So two years later, we can finally get insurance and she immediately goes to a different doctor, we were not satisfied with our care at her previous office, but they were affordable.

To make a long story short, her new doctor is looking at her medical history and asks something about my wife's "Disease"

My wife was shocked, she was not told she had "Disease", but the new doctor explained that her ultrasound results show that she does in fact have this disease.

So essentially, she was diagnosed with this disease, but her doctor just chose not to tell her for one reason or another. This has been two years of pain, bleeding, spending tons of money on appointments and urgent care visits all chasing some mysterious condition, but in the end, the diagnosis has been right there on her results, but her doctor just chose not to tell her.

I am at a loss for words

The bigger issue is that due to not treating this disease, she may now be diabetic.

I feel like it was her doctors duty to inform her of her disease and help to treat it, but the doctor just sort of chose not to. I have no idea what to do from here or if there is even anything to do.
